This Rogue Event can be encountered either by happenstance or as directed by the decoded star system coordinates found in Rogue Event 01 – Ancient Jedi Device.
DESCRIPTION
You enter a new star system and long range sensors detect a single vessel of Silhouette 4 at the far end of the system. Do you move in to investigate?
INVESTIGATE
You find what appears a derelict shuttlecraft being smashed to pieces by the surrounding, dense asteroid field. You detect no power readings or life signs and multiple hull breaches. However, a weak, automated distress signal can be heard over the comm static. This looks dangerous.
Crew choosing to board the vessel must make an Impossible (ddddddd) Piloting [space] check, Upgraded a number of times equal to half their vessel’s Silhouette (round down), to needle their way through the incredibly dense asteroid field and dock with the drifting shuttlecraft safely.
- For each Failure generated, the Crew’s starship suffers 2 Hull Trauma as the vessel is pounded by fast-moving debris.
- For each Threat generated, the Crew’s starship suffers 2 System Strain as the Crew’s pilot pushes the limits of the starship’s engine systems avoiding collisions.
- For each Despair generated, the Crew’s starship suffers a Critical Hit as rocky projectiles smash into vital systems.
- On a result of Triumph or at least 3 Advantage, the Crew may salvage wreckage from one additional room (see below).
ENCOUNTER
Nearly everything on the wrecked shuttlecraft is either destroyed beyond repair or unidentifiable. However, a careful search may reveal one or two valuable items to be salvaged from this disaster.
As you carefully explore the shuttlecraft, your vessel’s sensors detect a massive asteroid in a direct collision course with the derelict ship! You have to pull the salvage Crew out, but they can grab one valuable item from the wreckage first. What room do you send the Crew to salvage the most valuable item; Weapons Locker, Medical Bay, or Repair Shop?
WEAPONS LOCKER
Gain a Light Repeating Blaster with Tripod Mount augmentation.
If one of the Crew has the Utinnni! talent, the salvage work is done much more quickly and you also uncover a thermal detonator.
MEDICAL BAY
Your Crew finds a person frozen in a gray slab of impenetrable carbonite (Encumbrance 6). The Galaxy Master should refer to J is for Jedi master for a description of this person. The means to thaw this person will be provided later in Rogue Event 17, or can be devised in another manner by the Galaxy Master.
If one of the Crew has the Utinnni! talent, the salvage work is done much more quickly and you also uncover a full Bacta tank (Encumbrance 12).
REPAIR SHOP
You gain a badly damaged Astromech Droid with 11 Wounds (incapacitated).
If one of the Crew has the Utinnni! talent, the salvage work is done much more quickly and you also uncover a Jet Pack.
CONCLUSION
Your crew grabs what they can and returns to the ship before the asteroid hits and annihilates what little remained of the wrecked shuttlecraft. You can take a closer look at what you’ve recovered once you move clear of the asteroid field.

Neat! How about if they have a tractor beam? =) Any good Wayfarer should have one installed

Quite right! A tractor beam is going to really cut down on the number of Pilot Maneuvers that derelict shuttlecraft can take.

Possibly also increase salvage by directly towing it out of harms way and into safer areas… or allow them to tow other larger asteroid bits in the way to shield them from incoming debris a little. =)

Thanks for this idea! I’m going to change the setting to a starship graveyard and run it this weekend. :)
